তেতুলের উপকারিতা তেঁতুল পছন্দ করে না এমন মানুষ পাওয়া খুব কঠিন। বিশেষ করে তরূণীদের খাবারের তালিকায় উপরের দিকেই পাওয়া যায় এর নাম। তবে অনেকেরই ধারণা তেতুলের শরবতের উপকারিতা তেঁতুল খাওয়া স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য ক্ষতিকর এবং তেঁতুল খেলে রক্ত পানি হয় তেতুলের বিচির উপকারিতা ।

“তেতুল খেলে রক্ত পানি হয়ে যায় কিংবা তেতুল মস্তিষ্কের জন্য ক্ষতিকর” আধুনিক ডাক্তারদের মতে এ ধারনা সম্পূর্ণ ভুল। সব কিছুরই যেমন ভাল ও মন্দ আছে। তেমনি তেতুল এর ও ভাল ও মন্দ বা উপকার ও অপকার দুইটাই আছে। গরমে এটির খুব কদর বারে অন্য সময়ের তুলনায়। ছেলে মেয়ে উভয়ে তেতুল খেতে পারে।

তেতুলের উপকারিতা

১) হজম শক্তি বাড়ায় কোষ্ঠকাঠিন্য দূর করে :
পেট ব্যথা বা কোষ্ঠকাঠিন্যর মতো সমস্যার সমাধান যদি চান, তেঁতুলের সাহায্য নিন।তেঁতুলের মধ্যে টার্টারিক অ্যাসিড, ম্যালিক অ্যাসিড এবং পটাশিয়াম আছে যা কোষ্ঠন্যকাঠিন্য দূর করে। আয়ুর্বেদে এখনও তেঁতুল পাতা ডায়েরিয়া সারাতে ব্যবহার হয়। এছাড়াও তেঁতুল গাছের ছাল এবং শিকড় পেটের ব্যথা দূর করতে ব্যবহার করা হয়।

২) ডায়বেটিস কন্ট্রোল করে :
তেঁতুলের বীজ ডায়বেটিস কন্টোল করতে সক্ষম। আবার রক্তে চিনির মাত্রাও ঠিক রাখে। এতে উপস্থিত এক ধরণের এনজাইম যার নাম (alpha-amylase)রক্তে চিনির মাত্রা কমায়।

৩) ওজন কমায় :
তেঁতুলে উচ্চ মাত্রায় ফাইবার আছে আবার একই সঙ্গে এটা সম্পূর্ণ ফ্যাট ফ্রি। গবেষণায় দেখা গেছে যে রোজ তেঁতুল খেলে ওজন কমে।ওজন কমাতে flavonoids and polyphenols এর উপস্থিতি কাজ করে। এছাড়াও এর উপস্থিত hydroxycitric acid খিদে কমায়।

৪) পেপটিক আলসার রোধ করে :
পেপটিক আলসার বেশির ভাগ সময় পেটে এবং ক্ষুদ্রান্ত্রে হয়। এই আলসার খুব বেদনাদায়ক। রিসার্চে দেখা গেছে তেঁতুলের বীজের গুঁড়ো নিয়মিত খেলে পেপটিক আলসার সেরে যাচ্ছে। আসলে তেঁতুলে উপস্থিত পলিফেনলিক কম্পাউন্ড আলসার সারিয়ে তোলে ।

তেতুলের বিচির উপকারিতা

৫) হৃদয় ঠিক রাখে :
তেঁতুল খুবই হার্ট ফ্রেন্ডলি। এতে উপস্থিত ফ্ল্যাভরনয়েড ব্যাড কোলেস্টেরল কমায়। আবার রক্তে ট্রাইগ্লিসারাইড ( এক ধরণের ফ্যাট ) জমতে দেয় না। এতে উপস্থিত উচ্চ পটাশিয়াম রক্ত চাপ কমাতে সাহায্য করে।

৬) ক্যান্সার রোধ করে :
তেঁতুলে উচ্চ পরিমাণে অ্যান্টি অক্সিডেন্ট আছে যা কিডনি ফেলিওর এবং ক্যান্সার রোধ করতে সাহায্য করে।

তেতুলের শরবতের উপকারিতা

৭) ক্ষত সারিয়ে তোলে :
তেঁতুল গাছের পাতা এবং ছাল অ্যান্টি সেপটিক এবং অ্যান্টি ব্যাকটেরিয়াল। এটি ক্ষত সারিয়ে তুলতে সাহায্য করে।

৮) ত্বক উজ্জ্বল করে :
তেঁতুল ক্ষতিকারক আলট্রা ভায়োলেট রে-র হাত থেকে ত্বককে বাঁচাতে সাহায্য করে। যাদের অ্যাকনে আছে তাদের জন্যেও উপকারী তেঁতুল।

৯) সর্দি কাশি সারাতে সাহায্য করে :
তেঁতুলে antihistaminic properties প্রপার্টি আছে। যার ফলে অ্যালার্জি হতে বাঁধা দেয়। আবার এতে উপস্থিত ভিটামিন C শরীরের ইমিউনিটি বাড়ায়।

তেতুলের বিচির উপকারিতা

১০) লিভার সুরক্ষিত রাখে :
তেঁতুল আমাদের লিভার বা যকৃতকেও ভালো রাখে। পরীক্ষায় দেখা গেছে যে, নিয়মিত তেঁতুল পাতা ব্যবহার করে উচ্চ মাত্রায় মদ্যপানের ফলে ড্যামেজড লিভার অনেকটা সেরে উঠেছে।

১। রক্তপাত বৃদ্ধি করে নির্দিষ্ট ঔষধের ক্ষেত্রেঃ
তেঁতুল রক্তপাতের ঝুঁকি বৃদ্ধি করতে পারে এবং মারাত্মক স্বাস্থ্য সমস্যা তৈরি করতে পারে যদি নির্দিষ্ট কিছু ঔষধের সাথে গ্রহণ করা হয়। এ ধরনের ঔষধগুলো হচ্ছে

=>অ্যাসপিরিন,
=>ইবুপ্রোফেন, ন্যাপ্রোক্সিন এর মত নন-স্টেরয়ডাল অ্যান্টিইনফ্লামেটরি ড্রাগ (NSAIDs),
=>রক্ত পাতলা করার ঔষধ (হেপারিন, ওয়ারফেরিন ইত্যাদি )
=>অ্যান্টি-প্লাটিলেট ড্রাগ (ক্লপিডোগ্রেল)

তেতুলের উপকারিতা ও অপকারিতা

যদি আপনি এই ঔষধগুলো গ্রহণের সময় তেঁতুল খান তাহলে শরীরে এদের শোষণের মাত্রা বৃদ্ধি পাবে।এরা শরীরে অনেক বেশি কাজ করা শুরু করে এবং ক্রমান্বয়ে অধিক রক্তপাত শুরু হয়।

২। হাইপোগ্লাইসেমিয়া হতে পারেঃ
অনেক বেশি পরিমাণে তেঁতুল খেলে রক্তের সিরাম গ্লুকোজের মাত্রা কমে যায় বলে হাইপোগ্লাইসেমিয়া হয়। পুষ্টিবিদেরা প্রতিদিন ১০ গ্রাম তেঁতুল গ্রহণের পরামর্শ দেন।

যা নিয়মিত খাদ্যগ্রহণের ০.৮ % হতে হবে। এর বেশি গ্রহণ করলে শরীরে গ্লুকোজের ঘাটতি দেখা দিতে পারে।

তাই ডায়াবেটিসের রোগীরা যারা রক্তের চিনির মাত্রা কমানোর ঔষধ গ্রহণ করেন তারা এ বিষয়ে সতর্ক থাকবেন।

৩। অ্যালার্জির প্রতিক্রিয়া সৃষ্টি করতে পারেঃ
তেঁতুলের সাধারণ পার্শ্ব প্রতিক্রিয়া হচ্ছে অ্যালার্জি বা অতিসংবেদনশীলতা। এ কারণে কিছু কিছু মানুষের মধ্যে র‍্যাশ, চুলকানি, ইনফ্লামেশন, অজ্ঞান হয়ে যাওয়া, বমি হওয়া বা শ্বাসকষ্ট হওয়ার মতো লক্ষণ দেখা যায়।

৪। দাঁতের এনামেল নষ্ট করেঃ
তেঁতুল উচ্চ মাত্রার এসিডিক প্রকৃতির। তাই নিয়মিত তেঁতুল খেলে দাঁতের এনামেল নষ্ট হয়ে যেতে পারে। তাই অতিরিক্ত তেঁতুল খাওয়া আপনার স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য যেমন খারাপ তেমনি আপনার দাঁতের জন্য ও খারাপ।

৫। পিত্তপাথর গঠনে সাহায্য করেঃ
ভারতীয় গবেষক প্রমাণ করেছেন যে, ঘন ঘন প্রচুর পরিমাণে তেঁতুল খাওয়া পিত্তপাথর হতে সাহায্য করে। এর ফলে জন্ডিস, তীব্র জ্বর, পেটে ব্যথা, বমি বমি ভাব, বমি হওয়া, পরিপাকের সমস্যা ও লিভারের সমস্যা হতে পারে।

৬। এসিড রিফ্লাক্স বৃদ্ধি করেঃ
তেঁতুল এসিডিক খাবার তাই এটি বেশি খেলে আমাদের গ্যাস্ট্রোইনটেস্টাইনাল নালীতে বিশেষ করে পাকস্থলীতে এসিডের মাত্রা বৃদ্ধি পায়। তাই যদি এসিড রিফ্লাক্সের সমস্যায় ভুগে থাকেন তাহলে আপনার তেঁতুল খাওয়া থেকে দূরে থাকা উচিৎ।

এছাড়াও যদি রক্তনালীর সংকোচনের ঔষধ গ্রহণ করে থাকেন তাহলে তেঁতুল খাওয়া থেকে বিরিত থাকতে হবে। এটি রক্তনালীকে আরো সরু করে দিবে। ফলে রক্তপ্রবাহ কম হবে এবং রক্তনালী পুরোপুরি বন্ধও হতে পারে। নির্দিষ্ট অ্যান্টিবায়োটিকের সাথে প্রতিক্রিয়া দেখায় তেঁতুল। যেহেতু ল্যাক্সেটিভ হিসেবে কাজ করে, তাই আপনি যদি ইতিমধ্যেই লেক্সেটিভ গ্রহণ করে থাকেন তাহলে তেঁতুল গ্রহণ করা থেকে বিরত থাকুন।

By taking vegetable, protein and vitamin in everyday Meal the effect of arsenic can be prevented to a greater extent. Preventive measures can also be taking the fight arsenic.The affected tube-wells should be distinguished and separated.Rain water and filtered Ponds water can be used in the arsenic prone areas. Awareness should be created among the common people about arsenic pollution.It is a matter of great hope that government and different NGOs have come forward to fight arsenic in the ruler areas of Bangladesh.

In Bangladesh, arsenic pollution has become one of the major problems. Nowadays, arsenic pollution is causing hazards to our health. Arsenic is a kind of poisonous element. This element mixes with water especially with tube well water and pollutes it. This kind of water is harmful to drinking. One of the causes of arsenic pollution is the use of deep tube well water indiscriminately. The effect of arsenic pollution is very serious. Arsenic can attack different cells in our body. The parts of the body like liver, kidney, heart, stomach, skin etc. are badly affected by arsenic pollution. Due to arsenic pollution, skin gets peeled off. Itching becomes our constant companion. The face becomes flattened. A high cough and ophthalmic attack our body as a sign of arsenic pollution. The facilities for medical treatment of arsenic attack is very inadequate in our country. Patients with this disease are medically treated according to the symptoms. Firstly, the patients must be removed from the source of arsenic. Secondly, the medicine chronic arsenic poisoning must be applied to the sores made on the skin. But these are so expensive in our country that the patients fail to take treatment properly.

Many sewarase drains run into rivers and canals.These drains carry human waste and filth that pollut the water of rivers and canals. the underground people water is also polluted by various activities of people. polluted what are causes incbeings diseases to human beings. The National Memorial Paragraph ; The National Memorial at Savar is a symbol of the Nations respect for the martyrs of thr War of Liberation. It is built with a concert but made of blood.It distance 150 feet tell but every martyr it is stands for stands so much taller.It is an architecture, the dimensions of which can be measured, but it stands for an achievement which is immeasurable. It stands upright for the millions of Martyrs who laid down their lives so that we make a stand upright, in honour and dignity amongst the nations of the world.Its Foundation was laid on the first anniversary of the Victory DAY .There is actually a plan to build a huge Complex in several phases.The entire Complex wiil cover an area of 126 acres. The plan of this Complex includes a Mosque, a library and a museum.The relics of the Liberation War will be kept in the museum.That will never remained our countrymen and all who would come to visit the museum of the valiant struggle and Supreme sacrifices of freedom- loving people. Here also will be a clear warning to all oppressors that the weapons of freedom need to be very big and that oppression will always be defeated.The will of the people prevails, free main is born to be free.The most moving sight of the complex is the several graves of the martyred freedom fighters, close to the tower. Standing in front of the graves, we bow down our heads in respect, as the tower’s soar up symbolizing the loftiness of their spirits.

এগুলো স্বাধীনতা প্রিয় মানুষদের বীরত্ব ব্যাঞ্জন সংগ্রাম ও চূড়ান্ত বিসর্জনের কথা দেশবাসী ও যারা জাদুঘর পরিদর্শনে আসবে তাদের চিরদিন মনে করিয়ে দেবে। এখানে সব নিপিড়দের জন্য সতর্কবার্তা থাকবে, যে স্বাধীনতার জন্য বড় অস্ত্র দরকার হয় না এবং নিপীড়ক সর্বদা পরাজিত হবে। মানুষের ইচ্ছার বিজয় হবে কারণ মানুষ জন্ম থেকেই স্বাধীন এই কমপ্লেক্সের সবচেয়ে নাড়া দেয়ার দৃশ্য হচ্ছে টাওয়ারের সংলগ্ন শহীদ মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের কবর। সমাজের সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে আমরা শ্রদ্ধায় মাথা নত করি সে সমাধির টাওয়ার তাদের আত্মার উচ্চতা নিয়ে ঊর্ধ্বে উঠে গেছে।

he National Memorial of Bangladesh is a famous monument which is built in remembrance of the freedom fighters who laid down their lives during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. It lies at Savar about 35 km north-west of the capital Dhaka and is one of the greatest and most magnificent tourist charms in Bangladesh. The monument is built with concrete but it signifies the nation’s respect for the martyrs of the War of Liberation. The National Memorial-paragraphThe monument complex is expanded over an area of 34 hectares in a nice smooth environment. The main structure of the monument is truly a series of seven towers that rise by stages to a height of 150 feet. Seven towers remind us of our seven ‘Bir Shreshthos’ of the liberation war. Other structures and sidewalks are made of red bricks which reminds us of the blood of the 3 million martyrs who sacrificed their blood only for the freedom of their dear motherland. Several graves of the martyred freedom fighters and a pool of water are located in front of the monument. The whole complex also includes a number of other structures with a museum. The monument was designed by Syed Mainul Hossain and was inaugurated on the 16th December 1982. Every year, on Independence Day (26 March) and the Victory Day (16 December), people of all walks of life go to the National Memorial to show reverence to the martyrs offering floral wreaths. Every day lots of people from home and abroad visit this monument which is the testimony of freedom at the cost of a river of blood.

National Martyrs’ Memorial is one of the greatest monuments in the history Bangladesh. It is located in Savar, about 35 km north-west of Dhaka, symbolizes the velour and sacrifice of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the liberation of Bangladesh. It was designed by Syed Mainul Hossain. Plans for the monument were initiated right after the independence, in 1972. The main structure and the artificial lake and other facilities were completed in 1982. The monument is composed of 7 isosceles triangular pyramid shaped structures, with the middle one being the tallest. The highest point of the monument is 150 feet. There is an artificial lake, and several mass graves in front of the main monument. The architect has used concrete for the monument while all the other structures and pavements of the complex are made of red bricks. It symbolizes that it is built with concrete but made of blood. Once one enters the complex through the main gate he or she can see the monument axially but to reach it one has to walk through different ups and downs of pavements and cross an artificial lake by a bridge-all these represent the struggle for independence. The Independence Day Paragraph : The independence day of Bangladesh in on the 26th March. It is a red letter day in the history of Bangladesh.On this day, we pay homage to the memory of the great martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country.On this day in 1971 the declaration of our Independence was officially announced by Major Ziaur Rahman on behalf of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Every yeah we celebrate the ‘Independence Day’ in our institute in a very festive mode.All the student contribute and participate in all the programs.Our teachers also cordially help and instruct use in all the arrangements.

On this day with decorate every corner of the college compound with Green Leaves, histones and coloured papers.Adequate seating arrangements are made for the teachers, guest and students. Before the day program are fixed. Usually, the celebration is starts by hoisting the national flag and singing the national anthem. Immediately after this the March past take place and the principle of our Institute took the salute.A discussion meeting is arranged after it.Btalks the teachers and the student took part in the discussion. the local freedom fighters give their speech on the memory of the Liberation war.Independence Day brings unity anong us and encourage us to Build the country by our combined endeavour.

এই দিনে কলেজের প্রতিটি অংশ সবুজ পাতা, ফেস্টুন ও রঙিন কাগজে সাজানো হয়। অতিথি শিক্ষক ও শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য বসার ব্যবস্থা করা হয়। পূর্বেই অনুষ্ঠানসূচি নির্ধারণ করা হয়। সাধারণত জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন ও জাতীয় সংগীত গেয়ে অনুষ্ঠান শুরু হয়। এর পরপরই কুচকাওয়াজ অনুষ্ঠিত হয় এবং আমাদের প্রতিষ্ঠানের অধ্যক্ষ সালাম গ্রহণ করেন। এরপর একটি আলোচনা সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। শিক্ষকগণ ও ছাত্ররা উভয়েই এই আলোচনায় অংশ নেন। স্থানীয় মুক্তিযোদ্ধারা স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধে তাদের স্মৃতি স্মরণ করে বক্তব্য দেন। স্বাধীনতা দিবস আমাদের মধ্যে একতা বদানে এবং সম্মিলিত প্রচেষ্টায় দেশ গঠনে আমাদের উদ্বুদ্ধ করে।

Dowry is the activity taken place at the time of marriage when the bride’s family transfers wealth to the groom’s family in the form of cash, movable properties, or immovable properties. The existence of the dowry system is hard to trace, but it has long existed in India.

The dowry system brings a dark cloud above the heads of the bride’s family. Fathers of young girls fear the day of their daughter’s marriage and save money for that particular day. In the northern part of India, the dowry system is quite more prevalent, along with casteism. Dowry is nothing but a nightmare for women. Every woman goes through the ugly phase, where she is made to feel like she is a liability.
The country is continuously fighting against the dowry system. Various NGOs have come forward and raised the issue by spreading awareness among the population. The beautiful gesture of providing a helping hand towards the newly wedded has taken an ugly turn.

Dowry is a punishable crime, and anyone who is, by any means, tries to support or even hide the truth will have to face legal consequences. Both the parties, the giver and taker, of dowry will be punished under the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.

But the people of this country raised there voice against this unlawful decision. Some of the Heroic sons especially students come forward and sacrificed their glorious life for the cause of the mother tongue on the 21st February, 1952 Since then this day is called the Shaeed Dibash.Every year we remember this day with solemnity and pay them profound tribute. It is a matter of great honour that this day has got International recognition in 1999. Form the ownards of this day has been being observed as “The World Mother Language Day” All the member countries of the United Nations Organisation observe the day with great importance and various programmes .As a result consciousness for protecting, developing, and using ones own mother language among individual and governments is araising .Every year in Bangladesh this day is observed by Government as well as by various organisations and Institutions. This day creates and extraordinary feelings of patriosm and the people of all classes especially the youths.So this day is a matter of great glory,prestige and pleasure for use.

Any international day is harmoniously observed all over the world. On the international mother language day, every nation of the world respects the language of a nation. UNESCO declared 21′ February, as international mother language day on November 7, 1997. At that declaration, our mother tongue Bangla got international recognition. This great occasion reminds us of those heroic sons of the soil who sacrificed their lives to glorify our mother language. Barkat, Sulam, Jabbar, and Rafiq were among those who sacrificed their lives for this great cause. They kissed death at the shot of the Pakistani ruler. They raised a massive protest against imposing ‘Urdu’ as the state language. The Pak rulers shot indiscriminately on the procession to suppress the Bengali language. On this mother language day, the entire nation shows it’s respect to the heroic sons for their supreme sacrifice. Through the declaration of UNESCO, the people of this planet come to know about our deep love for our mother language and our struggle for it. The people of the world pay their homage to the martyrs. Actually we are proud of our heroic sons who have brought-this honor to our nation. This day teaches us to be determined to fulfill the motives for which our heroic sons laid down their lives.

Our glory reaches a climax when UNESCO announces this day as the International Mother language Day on 1999. Now this day is celebrated world wide by international communities. Every year this day is celebrated with due respect and solemnity. Bangladesh remembers her brave sons on this day. We offer flowers to the Shaheed Minar. We stand still in front of the Miran for the peace of the departed souls. Colorful processions are brought out to mark this day. Different sociology cultural organizations arrange different functions. We become very enthusiastic when this day comes. Our credit goes far and wide as every country gives dignity to our sacrifice.

Before the independence of our country in 1952, the then Pakistani ruler Jinnah declared in the public meeting that “Only Urdu and Urdu shalle be the state language of Pakistan”. The people of our country burst into protestation against this unjustified decision. Some of the heroic sons of this- soil came forward and sacrificed their valuable lives for the cause of the mother tongue on the 21st February 1952. The objective of observing the day is to pay homage to the language martyrs. The day is important for the people of Bangladesh. Now it is a matter of great pleasure and prestige that this day got international recognition in 1999 as International Mother Language Day.

21st February is a red-letter day in the history of our nation. It is also a mourning day for us. It is a day of historical importance. The day reminds us of our language movement and the sacrifice of our heroic sons. Now we observe the day year every as international mother language day which was formerly observed as Saheed Dibosh. The day is a national holiday. UNESCO declared the day as international mother language day in November 1999. It is not observed in our country but also observed as an international mother language day all over the world. On the day in 1952, the Pakistani wanted to impose their undue language as our state language. They wanted to take away our mother tongue. Then our heroic sons of our Bangladesh established Bangla language as the state language sacrificing their blood and lives. On the day. To show respect for their sacrifice, we pay homage to the shaheed minar with flowers and we bow down our heads singing a traditional song “Amar vai er rokte rangano ekuse February, ami ki vulte pari”. All Government and Goverment organizations bring out rally very early in the morning singing song, they go to shaheed miner. All classes of people go to shaheed minar with flower to show respect to the language martyrs. So the day and language martyrs will be remembered forever in the history of our Bengali nation.

The importance of 21st February in the history of Bangladesh can hardly be exaggerated. The 21st of February is International Mother Language Day. On this day in 1952 to save Bangla Language especially, students struggled against the then Govt who wanted to snatch away it from our tongue. On this day people wake up very early in the morning to go to ‘Shaheed Minar barefooted. People offer flowers at the ‘Shaheed Millar’ to pay homage to the martyrs. They walk the following lines and sing the most famous song by Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury. To mark the day different cultural programs are arranged. In the evening people arrange discussions or seminars. People do so to commemorate the heroic deeds of our national heroes. This day was once the pride of our own countrymen but at present, the whole world observes this day with due respect. Our noble sons are remembered by the whole world. The world now knows that Bangalees are very brave, they are not afraid of sacrificing their lives to establish the right of their mother tongue.

21st February is the international mother language day that has been started to celebrate from 17 November 1999, when UNESCO declared. This day has a glorious background story. In the year 1952, Bangladesh was colonized by Pakistan and known as East Pakistan. In that time, the Pakistani rulers declared that ‘Urdu will be the state language of Pakistan’. That’s mean even the East Pakistani also have to speak Urdu in the government office, universities and others. The students and general people didn’t accept the decision. They started a big rally in the Dhaka University area. And the police killed a few people and students there.
Salam, Jabbar, Rafik, Barkat, etc Shaheeds are mostly known as the martyrs of the language revolution. The people build the first Shaheed Minar to pay respect for them. And then the government changed their decision and kept Bengali as the state language of East Pakistan. This is the first and only life sacrificing for the language in the history of this world. And the UNESCO has provided the proper respect for this. More than 188 countries celebrate this day as their mother language day and pay respect for Shaheed who died on 21st February 1952.

Paragraph about the 21st of February

The language movement is a very important event in the history of Bengali nation as well as the world history as no other nation has shed blood for its mother tongue . Now it is a matter of pride and great honour to us as UNESCO has declared the 21 February, the Martyrs Day, as the International Mother Language Day. Now the 21 February is considered a red letter day. Now it is observed all over the world as the International Mother Language Day with great respect and enthusiasm. It is observed as a national mourning day in our country. On the day the national flag is hoisted half-mast in government buildings and offices. People of all classes bring out a procession named the “Provat Ferry” where they walk barefooted and sing the sad song, “Amar bhaiyer rokte rangano ekushe February, ami ki bhulite pari ……….“. They also place flowers and floral wreaths at the foot of the Shahid Minar to pay homage to the martyrs. Meetings, discussion programmes, seminars and cultural programmes and shows are organized all over the country to discuss and show the significance of the day. Fairs and exhibitions are held at different places on the occasion of the day. Publication of books and pamphlets on the occasion is also a common event. Newspapers and magazines also bring out special issues. The TV and radio also air special programmes highlighting the importance of the day. The day is observed as a day of great significance in our national life.
